Resurrection Church partners with the Don Bosco Community Center of Port Chester in multiple programs. The Don Bosco Center’s mission is to enable all people, especially the young and those who need us most, to realize their fullest potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.
The Read Aloud Program provides teen mentors to support the reading literacy skills for children ages 5-8. Teen mentors model a love of reading and foster good reading habits through encouragement and support of young readers. Each week, every child receives a new book to read with their mentor and gets to take the book home to read again with their family.
Don Bosco Center offers the community a Soup Kitchen serving breakfast and lunch, a Food Pantry for groceries, and a Children's Closet for clothing, books and toys. The Soup Kitchen serves 2377 people on average per month and the Food Pantry serves 471 families on average per month.
Monday - Friday Soup Kitchen:
Food Prep. 8:30 AM-10:30 PM
Meal Service 10:45 AM-12:45 PM
Food and Clothing Drives
Young people seeking community service, in addition to clubs, schools and religious organizations, are needed to help collect specific food and clothing items throughout the year. Contact the Don Bosco Center us for the latest food/clothing drive need list.
Please contact Tracey Sullivan traceysullivan@aol.com, if you can help drive grocery deliveries to Port Chester homebound residents on the second Saturday morning of each month.
Summer Camp Scholarships
Don Bosco Center offers a six-week summer day camp for boys and girls, ages 7 –14. Close to 200 campers enjoy a safe and stimulating environment while their working families are able to go to their jobs and not worry about the safety of their children. Thanks to the generosity of donors, 99% of campers receive scholarship assistance.
