We celebrate the shared journey between Resurrection Parish and Part of the Solution (POTS), a community-based nonprofit organization fighting poverty and hunger in The Bronx. For more than 40 years this extraordinary collaboration has flourished, as it is a testament to the power of faith, unity, and commitment to service for our brothers and sisters in need. Our shared mission remains unchanged: to be beacons of hope, compassion, and love.
Our friends at POTS want to express our gratitude to all the parish members for their continuous support. Your kind donations and spreading the word about Part of the Solution has changed lives for the better every single day.
Dear Parishioners,
We are excited to announce that the electronic signup for the POTS Christmas Luncheon is now live and available for registration!
The POTS Christmas Luncheon is an annual event that provides a warm meal to hundreds of homeless and hungry in the Bronx. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve our community in this way, and we rely on the generous support of our parishioners to make this event a success.
Sincerely,
The POTS Leadership Committee
Please sign up online for food donations and work shifts to ensure we have enough food and volunteer coverage to feed the hundreds of grateful people who look forward to a lovingly prepared and served holiday meals.
POTS is an organization that provides food and a community lifeline to people in the Bronx. POTS believes that every person should have access to the essentials of life and the support necessary to achieve stability and ultimately self-sufficiency.
Ever since 1982, when Fr. Ned Murphy, S.J. came to Resurrection asking for help to fund a soup kitchen in the Bronx, our parish has had a very special relationship with POTS. The money raised by Resurrection in 1986 enabled Fr. Ned to buy a building to house a soup kitchen and homeless shelter.
For over 30 years, every Thanksgiving and Christmas, members of Resurrection Parish join the people at POTS to provide a holiday feast for over 800 people at Our Lady of Refuge Grammar School in the Bronx. Our parishioners donate all the food, prepare it, serve it, and clean up after the meal.
If you are interested in getting involved with POTS outside of the Resurrection-managed Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, please visit the POTS website. You will find individual and group volunteer applications with a large number of opportunities to choose from.
